Re: Converting omnivores who have no arguments left

It's hard to have that realization when you won't look at the individual animal. It hit me like a train when I realized that animals aren't objects and I had to look them in the face for that to happen. no amount of argumentation could convince me until I chose to watch movies like earthlings and me...

Re: Language use caution

I have no problem with saying plants aren't sentient I'm just saying that if you are in a debate that you can be asked to prove the positive assertion that plants are not sentient. Plants have no nervous system isn't really proof unless someone makes the assertion that they do have sensory organs.

Language use caution

We have all been there. You don't choose your words quite carefully enough then you get trapped and they get their brains stuck on what you previously said. I caution you to say "there is no evidence that plants are sentient" rather than "plants are not sentient." the first puts you in the position ...

Soycrates wrote:Any "non-dairy" food product that actually contains dairy (in the form of whey or casein, usually).

I mean, c'mon! "Non" doesn't mean "Just a little"!

Re: Why so many vegans in the US?

maybe it is the nature of production here. the rate at which we eat meat expedites the process and makes videos more shocking and pertinent? I don't know what farming is like elsewhere but I always hear people from other countries say "we don't raise animals like that so it's okay to use them"

ugh we have glue traps where I work. I work in a mostly vegan section at a store so thankfully I don't have to handle much except milk products and whey protein powder.

Re: Why so many vegans in the US?

I don't know if that is particularly high in comparison with other less religious countries. I can say that cities are really much more liberal than the south and midwest so I would think that not believing humans are the apex of creation helps in realizing that animals don't exist for humans. I can...
