Re: Do the little things matter?

I don't want to avoid certain ingredients just for the sake of calling myself a vegan (of course, I'm not one), I think there is a good outcome deriving from avoiding calling yourself a vegan due to little things (I've explained how elsewhere cf. http://philosophicalvegan.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=52...

You quoted me and yet chose to ignore that part. You said (em...

Re: 3 years vegan, constipation

I did not interpret it as a command. The 'should' here as you used it was a claim of what actions rationally follow from the pursuit of the hypothetical norm to be healthy or resolve the OP's concerns. You claimed a microbiome test would be effective to that end (that you were not sure of which tes...

You didn't just mention some things he or she might try (which is what I did). Really? Oh dear... The verb 'should' is not only used to indicate a duty or a c...

Re: Do you struggle with identity?

Your discussion about moral certainty and all that part of your answer does not address the points I made in my previous post. I understand you think it's probable that vegans are likely to be better people in general, or that by being that one thing other good things follow. But it's a partial view...

Re: Do you struggle with identity?

How do you not notice contradicting yourself like this? Statements like this are all about quantification, otherwise you could not say the vegan is worse (finitely or "infinitely" ). I've already granted you in the post above that we can logically speak of morality in quantitative terms, and...

Re: 3 years vegan, constipation

You have recommended alt-med and had some very disparaging remarks about doctors' ignorance clearly intended to shake the OP's confidence in mainstream medicine, and you've explicitly recommended seeking help from a non-doctor and explicitly recommended against mainstream medication. No, you are bi...

Re: 3 years vegan, constipation

brimstoneSalad I have never suggested that the OP should *not* see a doctor, please do not put words in my mouth as you did several times here above. As for the rest, you are entitled to your, I am sure very informed, opinion, and the OP will be able to verify for her-/himself any of your claims, a...

Re: Do you struggle with identity?

OBVIOUSLY that is something that doesn't happen in practice, that was not my question. Don't dodge the question. Obviously you agree that if all other things were equal the person choosing animal suffering is being less moral in doing so. Which is to say YES morality IS fundamentally quantifiable. ...

Re: 3 years vegan, constipation

You can do all of the tests you want, but if the science isn't there to interpret the results of those tests and prescribe evidence based treatment then all you're doing is wasting people's money and giving them false hope -- one of the most common harms of pseudoscience for its victims.
