Re: Owning cats is not vegan

I somehow forgot to respond: Current generation sentient robots can't shut themselves off Where are you getting that from? If a program is conscious, the first thing that implies is that it's aware that it's a computer program, and that it can somehow interract with its environment (at the very leas...

Re: Owning cats is not vegan

It is not, that's the stupidest explanation.  And what do you think Popper meant when he said science isn't looking for the most probable explanation, but for the one that's the easiest to falsify? Of course you would just ignore the entire content of the article wherein a professional in the field...

Well, that's not really what's going on in South Korea, is it? If you try to have a hobby there, you are going to be a bad student.

Re: Article 13 and Article 11

The smaller the company, the more human it is and the less predictable its behavior. How do you know? Large groups of people are usually more prone to emotions getting in the way of their thinking than smaller groups are. At least that's the explanation given in my political science textbook as to ...

Re: Notre Dame- an example of altruism at its worst

You need to research something for years before your opinion becomes more reliable than the opinion of somebody who has done no research whatsoever, ... This is interesting claim, can you explain it more? Well, how long do you have to study Flat-Earthism to realize it's not true? Probably for month...

Re: Notre Dame- an example of altruism at its worst

Do you know of any efficient charities that bring positive consequences? Well, no, I haven't studied it that much. So this is entirely unimportant to you??? In my experience, doing a little research usually leads you farther from the truth. You need to research something for years before your opini...

Re: Article 13 and Article 11

Most of the philosophical conversations we have here involve a broad knowledge on topics that wouldn't be useful to most people in the job market. Doesn't it seem to you that primary schools, middle schools and high schools, when teaching science, for every topic, either they don't teach it at all,...

Re: Article 13 and Article 11

Does anybody here have an idea, why would the Serbian soldiers during the Massacre of Vukovar obey the commands? I just don't see it. They basically had two options: 1. Don't obey the commands: a) (most likely scenario) be killed by a fellow Serb. b) somehow escape, and be praised later as a hero. 2...

Re: Owning cats is not vegan

The precautionary principle means erring on the side of caution Well, see, making people believe fish feel pain might also have dire consequences. Perhaps many of them will stop eating fish because of that, not realizing that it's the main source of vitamin B12 in their diets, and suffer from malnu...

Re: Article 13 and Article 11

Anyway, the study you cite mentions South Korea as an example of a good education system. Where does that come from? South Korean schools are widely criticized for being insanely hard, and for teaching no skills that would help students later in life, or even making students understand the curriculu...
